Sporting Clube de Portugal, commonly known as Sporting CP or Sporting FC, was founded on July 1, 1906, in Lisbon, Portugal. It is one of Portugals Big Three football clubs, alongside Benfica and Porto. Sporting has won multiple Primeira Liga titles, domestic cups, and the 1963–64 European Cup Winners Cup. The club is renowned for its youth academy, which produced legends like Cristiano Ronaldo and Luís Figo. Sporting's home ground is Estádio José Alvalade. The clubs colors are green and white, symbolized by its famous striped jerseys.
Sporting became the first Portuguese club to win a European trophy, lifting the 1963–64 European Cup Winners' Cup after defeating MTK Budapest. They have also participated in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League multiple times.
Sporting CP is famous for its youth academy, Academia Sporting, which produced Cristiano Ronaldo, Luís Figo, Ricardo Quaresma, João Moutinho, and Bruno Fernandes. Their emphasis on youth development has made them a powerhouse for producing world-class talent.
Sportings home ground is Estádio José Alvalade, inaugurated in 2003, with a capacity of over 50,000. The clubs emblem features a golden lion, representing strength, and its colors—green and white—are reflected in the iconic striped jerseys. Sporting remains one of the most popular clubs in Portugal and continues to compete for domestic and international success.
